Laura C. Havran BIO

Laura and her husband Dick are retired and reside in the Keowee Key community outside Salem, SC.
For many years, Laura lived in Peoria, Illinois, a river town with a colorful past full of gangsters, gambling parlors, whiskey distilleries, and brothels. Inspired by tales from the old-timers about life during the first half of the twentieth century, Laura completed her third fiction novel, titled Invisible.
Fueling her imagination is a varied career path, which has included a stint as a bake, high school drama teacher, corporate computer geek, director of fundraising, writer/editor, as well as, director of alumni relations. Laura’s writing background includes college alumni magazines, a quarterly newsletter for state-wide community volunteers, a technical marketing manual, resume and book editing, and Web site design.
Laura is an eclectic writer who is working on her fourth novel. She has been married for thirty-some years to a retired Engineering Fellow turned full-time woodworker. They have three grown children and three grandchildren. Her old Aussie dog who gave her paw of approval to a manuscript passed away in 2012 and is still greatly missed. When she’s not writing, reading, designing Websites, working out at the gym, or marketing the clubs and groups she joined in SC, she's boating on Lake Keowee in the beautiful Upstate South Carolina.
